One of the state mandated responsibilities for the Sheriff of any county in Michigan is to remove bodies from the waters of the county. Drowning is very infrequent in Hillsdale County, but when a drowning occurs, the Sheriff's Office is ready to dive for recovery.
 

The Dive Team is comprised of 15 members who train monthly throughout the year, and is also manned by numerous volunteer divers and sworn deputies. The team is prepared to dive in warm weather and through ice if needed.
 

The Dive Team is under the command of Lieutenant Tim Parker.
