HCSO Civil Services

The Hillsdale County Sheriff's Office provide civil services to residents within our jurisdiction. These civil services can be subpoenas, summons, personal protection orders (PPOs), complaints or other orders from the courts. These can be served Deputy Sheriff's who are officers of the court.

You may drop off civil papers in person or mail or fax civil papers to:

Charges for civil processes are set by the State of Michigan and are as follows:

  1. After the service is completed, a bill will be sent to the address provided.
    Note: No pre-payment is accepted.
  2. For service of a set of papers to an individual or business (Fees range from $16.00 - $39.00).
  3. Plus mileage to/from address of the court - .862 cents per mile

Once paid, a Proof of Service will be returned to the Requestor. If a paper was not served, you may be billed for mileage and/or incorrect address. Service is not guaranteed, and it is the responsibility of the Requestor to inquire about the status of their civil service. Status of the service can be requested during normal business hours by calling the Sheriff's Office at (517) 437-7317.
